Calla lilies have been part of my life for as long as I can remember...
They also have been in the garden. I am guessing now... but I think it is probably one of the first flower names that I learned. I learned the name "pig's ears" ... directly translated.
It is so easy to recognize. There is no other like it. It has a strikingly simple form.

Calla Lily Pictures
I wanted to spice up my flower picture collection with colored calla lily pictures for flower-pictures-online.com. I went to the garden center in search of pretty models.
They were absolutely gorgeous. I have never seen calla lilies quite like these. Lilac, pink, pink trimmed, yellow, yellow with ruby red trim and more... Sorry no pictures of these. No paparazzi allowed in the garden center. I was ready to buy a number of pots to get a variety...
And then I saw the price. Hu? So expensive! I could buy 2.5 roses for one pot of calla lilies. My garden has so many white ones. Funny how you don't appreciate the value of what you have in your garden, until you see what it is worth in the garden center.
I had to take a walk through the rest of the garden center to recover my composure.
And then the decision of which of those lovely plants to buy... and here she is!

About the picture: This is a soft pink calla lily with white and green. It is one of about eleven flowers that was on the plant that I bought. The plant may have been expensive, but I did choose one with many stems and more flowers to come.
